Unit 1 Activity 9 - Recording events - Exemplar 1

For this module I wanted to make a record of the opening of the hydrotherapy pool. I decided to create a photo album of the event using a digital camera and Clicker 4.

I am very new to Clicker but wanted to learn how to use it as I have already learnt how to use SwitchIt! Maker for my previous assignment.

I enlisted the help of a colleague to show me how to use Clicker 4. I then had to take photos of the event which I saved in a folder on my desktop. Out of the 17 photos taken first of all I went through the folder and made a note of those I wished to use and put them in order.

I located Clicker 4 from the Start menu and selected "Make a Clicker Grid". I went into "Bookmaking" to choose a layout. By pressing the shift key and the left button on the mouse simultaneously I higlighted the grid I wished to use and clicked on the file icon to insert my photo. I had to locate the file from My computer first.

Once I had located the number of the photo I wanted I clicked on it and it was inserted onto the clicker grid. I know that by pressing Alt and the left button on the mouse I could change the size of the photo but I didn't want to.

Then came the writing. This was the easiest bit as all I had to do was press the shift key and the left button on the mouse and then type my caption using the keyboard.

I saved each page as a separate file although I created a folder to keep all five pages in. I still need to work out how to save all five pages into one file. At the moment I can still browse through each page but I have to open all the pages separately first!

The students' reaction to my creation was great. So far I have shown it to my most able students who love the photos and can read the large text. They were not able to be at the opening so I think this has been a very nice way to show them the event. And in turn I have been motivated to learn how to use Clicker 4!
