Allan Wilson
Information Officer, Communication Aids for language and
Learning (CALL) Centre, University of Edinburgh
Allan has been Information Officer at the CALL Centre since
1993. Prior to this he worked for five years as an Information Technology
Trainer with young school leavers with special educational needs. He also spent
some time working as a freelance consultant, with clients such as Sense
Scotland, Capability and the Department of Employment!
As Information Officer he is responsible for CALL
publications, editing the Augmentative Communication in Practice: An
Introduction book published in 1998, and also handles general requests for
information. He has played an active part in a number of CALL training courses
in recent years, leading courses on speech recognition and the use of the
Internet.
From 1998 until 2000 he was Chairman of Scotland Yard
Adventure Centre, a local charity providing play opportunities for young people
with disabilities.
