Sally Townend
Senior Development Officer, ACE Centre-North
Following qualification as an Occupational Therapist in
1988, Sally held a number of posts as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist
before joining the ACE Centre-North in 1993.
Sally's interest has always been in working with children
with severe physical disabilities in a range of settings, including mainstream
schools, special schools, and the home environment. This interest was developed
in 1998 when Sally became Bobath trained allowing her to develop her knowledge
of working with children with Cerebral Palsy. Working within an
interdisciplinary team has always been an important part of her work when
developing an individual's skills.
Sally's interest in giving individuals access to
independence through Assistive Technology led her to join the ACE Centre-North
inter-disciplinary Assessment and Training Team as the Occupational Therapist.
In 1996 she became Senior Development Officer with additional responsibility
for the co-ordination of The Centre's resources and development of assessment
and training materials.
