Simon Bloor

Senior Development Officer, ACE Centre-North

Following graduation from The University of Sheffield (BA Psychology) in 1988, Simon completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Sheffield City Polytechnic and then entered primary teaching.

In order to follow his interest in the use of adventurous activities in a residential setting for personal and social development he accepted a post at Fairthorne Manor, one of The YMCA National Outdoor Activity Centres, as an instructor and tutor in a range of outdoor and field activities with groups of children and adults with a range of disabilities.

After a period within Further Education, as Learning Support Co-ordinator at Burton on Trent Technical College, supporting students with a range of disabilities on mainstream and discrete courses and part-time lecturer in Psychology and Sports Science, he moved to The Manchester Metropolitan University. There he held the post of Disability Adviser and as such was responsible for the co-ordination of all support for students with disabilities across The University.

Simon took up a post as Development Officer at The ACE Centre - North some four years ago and now holds the post of Senior Development Officer, and in addition to being a member of the inter-disciplinary Assessment and Training Team he has additional responsibility for the co-ordination of The Centre's training services.
