Susan Gibb, Teacher, CALL Centre

Susan qualified as a primary teacher from the University of Glasgow in 1993 and spent the next two years teaching in local schools.

In 1995, Susan joined VSO and was posted to Bushenyi Primary Teacher's College in Uganda. There she taught music and mathematics, supervised teaching practice and delivered in-service training. She was also involved in setting up a resource room at the college for local teachers to gain ideas in using local materials to make learning aids.

Susan returned to the UK in 1998 and started teaching primary children with severe and complex needs mainly in the Scottish Borders. It was during this time that she developed a strong interest in augmentative communication and ICT.

In January 2001 Susan was seconded to the CALL Centre in the University of Edinburgh.
