ICTS Trainers and Administrators : Profiles

Alan StanderwickAlan Standerwick

Development Officer, ACE Centre-North

After receiving a B.Sc. (Joint hons. Psychology and Statistics) degree from the University of Salford, Alan completed a one-year PGCE at Manchester University (Long Millgate College) in 1976.

He then taught in mainstream primary in Salford LEA before doing a M.Sc. degree in Computation at UMIST. In 1982 he transferred to the post of Advisory Teacher in I.T. with responsibility for Special Needs. This involved support and in-service training for staff in both mainstream and special schools.

In 1991 he moved into the Salford SEN Support Service as a support service teacher with responsibility for ICT. In this role he had responsibility for the LEA assessment for pupils with recording difficulties and worked with SENCOs, school and support service staff in drawing up IEPs and encouraged the use of ICT in their support. Over this period Alan has delivered and organised training for Support Service staff, staff within schools and specific SENCO courses related to ICT.

In January of 2000 he moved on secondment from Salford to the Ace Centre North where he has been involved in assessments, school audits of ICT requirements, training, and delivery on information and network days.
