Information Manager, Inclusive Technology
In 1991 Nigel took up a post split between Foxdenton Special
School (school for children with physical and learning difficulties) and the
Northern ACE Centre (Aids to Communication in Education). Northern ACE was one
of two national centres working to support and develop the use of IT to help
learners with physical and communication difficulties.
During his time at Foxdenton School Nigel provided ICT
support for both staff and pupils, which included developing an ICT training
programme. At the Northern ACE Centre, Nigel became a member of a
multidisciplinary team delivering courses on the use of IT for pupils with
communication difficulties, and also carrying out individual pupil
assessments.
Later, as Sales Manager at Don Johnston Special Needs Ltd.,
Nigel was responsible for developing, presentations, seminars and training
programmes to cover the range of ICT and Special Needs situations.
Nigel joined Inclusive Technology's Information Department
as Manager in 1999, in order to lead the development and delivery of it's
consultancy and training programme for schools, local education authorities and
ICT companies.
