Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at the ACE
Centre
Rachel trained as a speech and language therapist after
gaining a degree in biological sciences.
She has spent several years working at a school for children
with physical difficulties where much of her time was spent introducing AAC
(augmentative and alternative communication) to younger children, particularly
within the early years department.
She has worked at the ACE Centre for approximately ten
years, but has always maintained a part-time role within a specialist school.
This now includes supporting children within a mainstream environment.
During her time at the ACE Centre she has been involved in
assessing children with complex needs as well as training those who support
them. For the past three years she has been involved in a European research
project designing communication software for people with dysphasia.
